Why do I have to have x-rays at my dental appointment?
Dental x-rays are an important part of your dental appointment because they assist in detecting damage to teeth and gums that may not be visible to the naked eye.
X-rays assist our dentist in determining the condition of your teeth, their roots, and the presence of periodontal disease, cavities, abscesses, cysts and tumors. X-rays also can show the exact location of impacted teeth and teeth that have not yet fully developed.
X-rays at our office are customized to fit your individual needs. If you are a new patient, we will typically take a full set of x-rays to evaluate your oral health and track it during future visits, making sure that your teeth and gums stay healthy. If you have changed dentists and recently had x-rays taken, we can request to have those x-rays sent to our office.
